Today is a very sad day in India’s future when our Govt. has “considered” taking a turn back into the Black Ages.
The notorious Congress party once again promotes reservations for Muslims with an eye on their votes, this time in the IITs and IIMs. Everybody knows that there is no other reason for any party to create reservations for Muslims!
I mean, if Muslims are educationally more backward than others, then there are many other avenues for improving that situation, such as creating more schools and colleges in Muslim-dominated areas.
But the important thing is that any institution that the Govt. sets up has to necessarily be secular, if not for morality’s sake, for the sake of our respected constitution.
But NO! Secularism has a whole new meaning in our country. Aligarh Muslim University was declared a minority institution even though it eats off Central funds. Andhra Pradesh announced reservations for Muslims in education and jobs.
Thankfully we have a sane Judiciary which struck down both orders in the name of our constitution. How can a secular country have Hindu or Muslim institutions?
Muslims desperately need education just so that they will not be used by political parties like vote-slaves! If only more Muslims knew that their being used this way is not good the health of India’s Muslim community.
The country is virtually saying that Muslims are not as good as others to get into IITs and IIMs and should therefore need reservations. How can any self-respecting Muslim accept this?
This will further, very adversely, affect the credibility and standards of the IITs and IIMs. Already there is a 20% reservation for the SCs and STs, and a former director of IIT Kharagpur, Kasturi Lal Chopra, is against it:
We have relaxed rules for them and have special coaching classes. But this is not helping; they are barely able to clear their examinations, Chopra said. They finish the four-year course in seven to eight years.
Not that people from the SCs and STs are not as capable. It is just that those who get in through the quota are not as good – which is natural!
Ambedkar must be so turning in his grave – his ultimate wish for a reservation-free India is not only yet to be realized, but reservations are eating into all spheres of Indian life!
What do you have to say about the reservations in India for SCs, STs, BCs, MBCs, OBCs, and a proposed one for Muslims? Feel free to comment below.
