US Family Court snubs our Supreme Court

International legal wars, India-US tensions, and a crestfallen SC! A very simple case, and a very simple direction by the Supreme Court of India have been outrightly rejected by a family court in New York!

SC has felt the slap on its face quite hard, and with fallen prestige it has requested the Govt. to take the matter up with the US administration. OK, this is what happened:

Yet another case of custody of children after mother’s death. The mother’s parents allege the father to have played a role in her death, while the father is running from pillar to post to secure custody of his own children - very sad indeed! The SC decided that the children be brought to the court so the matter could be settled.

But the family court in NY where the children presently reside, has snubbed the SC’s request with a firm NO!

Is this right? In my opinion, the judiciary of one country has every right to judge the decisions of the judiciary of another. However, when the call comes from the highest court of a country, any disagreement has to be aired only by the highest court of the dissenting country, in my opinion.

Anyway, the arrogance of Americans is only legendary!

whats the point of our highest court judging the case when its official that more than 50% of indian judiciary is corrupt.

american justice is not perfect but its atleast a lot better!! and having been in both usa and india I am sure the child is much better of there especially if the father has played a role in his wife death

Hi Saint,

Firstly, Indian Judiciary is a very efficient organization in India. Please could you substantiate your statistic of 50%?

About American justice - with Bush recruiting all kinds of conservative people as Justices of the Supreme Court, the court is going to deprive women of abortion rights etc. - not a good picture.

Regarding the father, it is not known if the father had a role to play in his wife’s murder - it could be that the wife’s parents have brought up false charges in order to keep possession of their grandchildren.
