Jesus stops Bush from honoring the Mahatma

Just recently, the monarch of Saudi Arabia, the world’s incubator for terrorism, broke all protocol by denying to pay homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat. He betrayed utter insecurity over his religion by citing Islam as the reason.

Now George Bush, when confronted with a question on the same matter, “was caught off guard and mumbled something about how the Gospel of Jesus Christ views cremation as a pagan practice”. (Vijay Dandapani)

These people are not able to discriminate between their role as ‘Head of State’ and as a person. Of course they can be religious, and although it is politically very wrong, they can be extremely disrespectful of other religions. The Abrahamic religions seem to preach disrespect, so people following them have to, by default, practice intolerance.

Intolerance should not be encouraged or appreciated, and that too when expressed by Heads of States. Calling a spade a spade is something that the servile Congress-Left Govt. is incapable of. Therefore, even when a Muslim King and a Christian President betray their bigotry, Manmohan Singh’s Govt. shows the other cheek to receive another slap in style.

But disrespect to Mahatma Gandhi, who is perhaps the biggest icon of the 20th Century, is unacceptable. It will be interesting to see how the different political parties in India react.

Will the BJP oppose Bush’s visit on this account, even though it was they who started the US-India friendship?

The Left has already started to protest against Bush’s visit for their own utterly stupid reasons.

The Congress, I expect, will show their other cheek in their customary style.

Lastly, what I propose is that Bush’s agenda should definitively include the Raj Ghat as mandatory, and see how politically unacceptably he can react.

So, will he or won’t he visit Raj Ghat?

The remarks of Saudi King is really shocking and it is unfortunate that the political parties in India havent come out with their reactions.

As Sooraj rightly said there is a distinct role as ruler and as individual. this should be recognised by all and diginity of individual upheld.

Bush and Saudi Monarch should be able to educate their countrymen as well as clergymen that they have their duties as heads of State to honour the other State’s Worshipped Heroes especially ICONS like Gandhiji of India, Martin Luther King of US etc.., when they are on official visits .

Let us pray May Wisdom Dawn on the Unwise across the world whos vision are blocked by narrow religious dogmas and dictats which I feel both these diginitaries ought to inform their followers.

Give me a break its up Bush and the Saudi monach to decide. You can´t force people to honour someone.
Did Mahatma Gandhi really read the gita ?
then how comes hes a pacifist. Did not Arjun do his
duty ?

I respect Gandhi but is no way beyond critism.

Hi Krishna - Bush and any King on a personal level may or may not choose to honour Gandhi, but as I have stated in the article, when it comes to being head of a state, there comes certain responsibility and duties that one can just not shirk.

Anyhow, Bush and Laura did visit Rajghat and offer their respects to Gandhi’s samadhi. But I don’t understand why we have a tomb for Gandhi!

How anyone can expect Saudi to educate its nationals for tolerence. Once in BBC, Saudi Education minister was asked “Why at saudi schools(for saudi nationals), the students are taught that “the d-day will not arive for any muslims unless all jews are killed”. The minister defended the teaching. Saudis expect tolerance in India for muslims but at Saudi, no one should tolerate the word “Hindu”. For many years, the newspapers in Saudi branded BJP govt as “Hindu-extremist-fundamentalist” govt. This stopped only after 9/11/01. Saudi as a state protested against BJP’s nuklear-test, but at the same time, proudly protrayed Dr. Kalam as “Nuke scientist- A muslim”. Such was the heading in Arab-news.
